The Benefits of Teak
Teak is a very dense wood, which can grow up to 45m tall with a diameter of approxmiately 1-1.5m, it generally takes a Teak tree
50-60 years to be at its prime for harvesting. The wood has a typically straight grain, although at time can be wavy. Teak can sometime
be compared to leather when freshly cut. It appears dull but has a pleasant aroma.
Teak has a tremendous resistance to fungal decay, termites, and acid. It is also very easy to work with. These attributes have made
it a valuable resource and popular timber to harvest. Part of the reason teak is a preferable wood type is because of its unique ability to
prevent rust and corrosion when it comes into contact with metal. It is impervious to all weather conditions.
