Teak is the most durable wood for Outdoor Furniture. There are other hardwood timbers which have a good life in outdoor conditions but Teak is No 1. If we look at the marine industry you will find boat builders have been using Teak for hundreds of years and whereas today most boats are fibre glass the decking is always “teak”. The simple explanation is that the composition of the wood is so dense it retains its natural oils thus resisting weathering from the sun and not allowing water to penetrate!
Over time the sun will eventually break down the surface and cause the wood to go grey. Many people like this effect but with regular oiling the product you buy today will retain the same appearance for hundreds of years.
